Senior Pastor Timothy R. Stokes has spent several years in successful ministry, beginning on the campus of Oakland University where he was a graduate and a member of the administrative staff. Pastor Stokes served faithfully in ministry in the cities of Lansing and Grand Rapids. In 1991 Pastor Stokes and his wife, Tanya were separated by the Holy Ghost and an apostolic presbytery that included spiritual leaders of national prominence. They were then sent to Flint in September to oversee a new work.

Family Worship Center Church began September 4, 1991 with approximately fifteen adults and a handful of children. In Spring of 1992, through the ministry gift of Pastor Stokes, the ministry experienced growth in the Spirit and in the natural. The small, eighty-seat sanctuary located on Carpenter Road was no longer large enough to house the ministry. After several months of praying, travailing, sacrificing and seeking the Lord, in July 1992 the congregation of one hundred and seventy-five secured a million dollar facility on Flushing Road which contained sixteen classrooms, twelve offices, and a sanctuary that seats over five hundred people. At that time the new building was large enough to house the vision of the ministry, which included staff, classrooms and offices.

We continued to expand our tents, supernaturally acquiring an office building adjacent to the former church, which now houses the Administrative Offices of Family Worship Center Church, Word of Life Bible Training Center, The Vision Center (Resource Library), Lively Worship Records, and Word of Life Media Ministry. Our current membership exceeds 2000 and our growth continues each week.

We have acquired real estate holdings and other assets of approximately $8 million. Our plans to build the future home of Family Worship Center Church have been solidified and our future secured. The acquisition of 137+ acres of prime, commercial real estate with highway frontage positions us to complete multiple phases of site development that will have tremendous spiritual and economic impact.

The completion of our 1,000 seat auditorium is a testimony of God’s grace and faithfulness. Our destiny is set and our future is secured. With the help of his lovely wife, Tanya and the love of their four children Brendon, Amber, Emmanuel, and Timothy II, Pastor Stokes continues to preach and teach the unadulterated word of God and lead the people of God in doing the work and word of the Lord. The rest of our history has yet to be written.
