In 1980, during spring break from Oakland University, undergraduate student, Timothy R. Stokes gave his life to the Lord, receiving the miraculous gift of salvation. When he returned to campus, he was a changed man. He witnessed to his peers and strangers alike about Jesus, evangelizing the campus. After graduating with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Communication and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, he returned to Oakland University as an administrator in the Upward Bound program where he worked with young adults, preparing them for the college experience. At the same time he led a viable bible study in which many people were changed by the power of God.
In 1987, Timothy R. Stokes met Tanya Thomas, the lovely woman who would eventually become his wife, mother of his children, and his partner in ministry. After three years of devoted ministry to the students of Oakland University and faithful membership at Pentecostal Outreach Church of God in Christ in Lansing, Michigan, Pastor Stokes and his wife Tanya moved to Grand Rapids where they served a ministry faithfully until they were sent to Flint in 1991 to oversee a new work--Family Worship Center Church Intl.
In 1992, through the ministry gift of Pastor Stokes, the ministry experienced spiritual and natural growth. The small eighty-seat sanctuary, located on Carpenter Road, was no longer large enough to house the ministry and the growing church secured its second facility on Flushing Road. Through his leadership, FWCCi has secured its current facility that sits on 137 acres of land.
Pastor Stokes is a versatile and bold preacher and teacher of the gospel. He is currently pursuing his Masters Degree in Theology at Moody Theological Seminary - Michigan. Pastor Stokes is an author, conference speaker, and he performed the first wedding ever on the Dr. Phil Show in November 2006. He is also a family man, the father of four children (Brendon, Amber, Emmanuel and Timothy II), and a devoted husband.
Tanya C. Stokes, a Flint native, is the wife of Timothy R. Stokes. The leadership that God intended for her began early in her life. During her high school years she was an honor student, class president for four years, marching and concert band member, and “Athlete of the Year”. After graduating from Flint Northern she attended Central Michigan University where she double majored in Broadcast and Cinematic Arts, and in Journalism. During her college years her leadership skills again began to emerge as she directed a gospel choral group, led bible studies, and excelled in oratorical performance.
After graduating from CMU she met and married Timothy R. Stokes. In 1991, they moved to Flint and founded Family Worship Center Church. As the fledgling church grew by leaps and bounds, Pastor Tanya played an intricate role in establishing the standard of praise and worship in the ministry. Her determination to lead others into the presence of God set the foundation by which Family Worship Center Church functions today. She provided tremendous support to her husband and the growing church family.
Tanya Stokes has a heart to see the women of God reach their potential in God. She has authored several books for women; her latest title is “Women of Faith”. Mrs. Stokes is the mother of four children; Brendon, Amber, Emmanuel and Timothy II. She is a bold preacher of the gospel; admonishing all who would hear toward righteousness.
Mark A. Parker, a descendant of a long lineage of ministers of the gospel. At a young age Mark received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. In 1985, Mark acknowledged and accepted his call to the ministry. After years of faithful service he was ordained an Elder.

In 1995 Hammond recorded "Prodigal Son" Kim Rutherford recorded "Father Knows Best", and Minister Marvin Sapp recorded "Sweeter As the Days Go By". In the interim God granted the desire of his heart and he and his family relocated to Flint where he began serving in ministry at Family Worship Center Church with his friend and brother in the gospel, Senior Pastor Timothy R. Stokes.
In 1996 Helen Baylor recorded his song, "All the Way". In 1998 Elder Mark Parker was ordained a Pastor at Family Worship Center Church in Flint. This woman of God, who is called to the office of Evangelist, has a zeal for souls and a fervent desire for people to know who they are in Christ. She preaches and teaches the Word of God with passion and with a prophetic edge. Her mission is best described through the words of Jesus in Luke 4:18-19, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me because He hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; He hath set me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised. “To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.”
